The Norcross High School Gear Devils Robotics Team were invited to the FIRST Robotics Championship held at the Georgia Dome from April 17-19. The competition consits of international robotics teams that come from the far corners of the world to compete. Prior to this latest accomplishment, the Gear Devils participated in two regional tournaments; the Peachtree Regional and the Bayou Regional. At the Peachtree Regional, the team managed to secure 7th place among 46 teams. They were part of the 8th seeded Alliance who lost to the first seeded Alliance in the quarterfinals. At the Bayou Regional, held in New Orleans, LA, the Gear Devils placed 11th out of 48 teams. They were captains of the 8th seeded alliance, who once again had to battle against the tough 1st seeded alliance. However, they came up short due to some technical difficulties wih their robot. Because of this, they were once again eliminated in the quarterfinals. Good luck to the Gear Devils as they participate in the prestigious FIRST Robotics Championships to be held from April 17-19. Be there to support them if you can! GO GEAR DEVILS!!!!!!!!! |

Currently, the Gear Devils are working on the VEX robot for the FIRST Tech Challenge. On the other hand, the Mecanum wheels (to be used for the new robot entering the FIRST Robotics Challenge) have arrived and will help the robot move in any direction. The crate for this robot has also been painted and the arm is currently being redesigned. In addition, the programming team has been practicing on restoring the old robot, which they have almost completed. Lastly, the Gear Devils are scheduled to go to an event, on February 13, where they will meet politicians and promote the team. |
